Professor Gary Bailey

Promising or pitiful
When I was 16, back in 1983, I attended the Gary Bailey school in Axton, VA for 4-days,  I was really excited and thought this will be fun.  What I did not know was the difference that Gary and those 4-days would make on my life!  Gary told us something that I would never get over "No matter how promising or pitiful you are on a motorcycle today, that has nothing to do with what you can         accomplish on a motorcycle in the future."  I really go t what he said, you see I was one of the pitiful riders and I saw that my past and even my present did not have to limit my future and limit my dreams.  Granted it did now seem likely that I could be the 1997 AMA 125 National Champion (Mickey Diamond was), but I had the courage to declare it and act upon it.  This my motocross brothers and sisters is what I share with you, what I learned as a courageous yet pitiful motocrosser declaring a future in the face of unreasonable odds.  The results        unpredictable and unimaginable accomplishments on and off of a motorcycle.
